Alocasia Zebrina

The Alocasia Micholitziana Frydek is native to the Philippines and is part of the large family of araceae.

There are more than 70 species of the genus Alocasia and it is easily recognised by the fluffy texture of its dark green leaves and its beautiful white veining.

The Alocasia Micholitziana Frydek will need beautiful light without direct sunlight.

Because of its tropical origins, it loves humidity! In order for it to be at its best it will need a humid atmosphere.

Beware, it is also a little cold: under 18℃, your Alocasia may not like it, so we prefer a spot where it is warm and avoid draughts. Alocasia Micholitziana Frydek needs a nutrient-rich and well-draining substrate: a mixture of 50% potting soil, 40% white peat and 10% perlite will suit it perfectly.

When repotting avoid pushing the rhizome too deep, it is preferable to leave it slightly on the surface so that the plant can develop properly and thus prevent the plant from rotting. It is very important to keep the substrate always fresh and never let it dry completely.

Depending on the time of the year, adapt the watering to find the right balance so that it is not completely soaked or completely dry.

Be careful never to water it too copiously as this could be fatal!

Avoid fogging its foliage in the evening so as not to damage its fluffy foliage.

During the growing season, don't forget to give it regular fertilizer and to repot it whenever necessary so that it is at its best!

A slow-release fertilizer will suit it perfectly!
